Germany’s Secret Weapons begins with the development of a range of innovative and sometimes bizarre aircraft types, such as the Heinkel He 162 ‘People’s fighter’, the futuristic, spacecraft-like Gotha Go 229, and the Junkers Ju 287, with its forward-swept wings. The book goes on to describe the missiles and rockets developed under the Third Reich (such as the V1 and V2), and covers Germany’s attempt to build air-to-surface weapons to counter the Allied bombing campaign.
